Took it for a test run today... not worth going to yet. Maybe they will improve service and other kinks that are just due to being new. But their menu is exactly as expected, typical local style (lots of things with "two scoops and a side" with a few different items like fish and chips (lousy by my lunchmate's and my evaluation). The salad bar had wonderful fresh lettuce and the dressings were good, but they were all covered with saran wrap and my server told me that was to keep out the CRITTERS! The items that they could have had on the salad bar were missing... like no onions! What a shame (but no surprise) that this elegant and beautiful spot has been painted bright white and is serving mediocre food. The only good thing is that the building is no longer sitting empty. My friends reminded me that we have higher standards than 99% of Hilo diners so it may still fly for some. I have no desire to go back but will try it again and report in a few months.
