rbakker, not sure how it works but the explosions are so violent over the water that I think the hot air starts them spinning...they're huge!
The best way is straight down the 130...just keep going all the way to the parking lot...they have it set up pretty well...all the lava down to the viewing place is marked with yellow broken lines like on a roadway so if you have your flashlignt (a must) it's pretty easy to take the hike down to the sight. Bring binoculars and you will be amazed!
