Her description of making Lau Lau's is pretty correct.
Our Ohana (my wifes side of the family) made about 150 of them a few weeks back. It's very hard work but the reward of making your own food is so worth it. We also processed about 100 lbs of poi just last weekend. Thank god for grinders and not having to pound poi anymore! (I just wish that I would enjoy it as much as others)

This is a sentiment felt by many[
] I've learned really quickly to avoid using the words "you should do..." and realize that things are much different here, then the way they were where I was from.
