The most important thing about attic ventilation is upward flow.
You can add all the vents you want, but if you don't have sufficient soffit vents under your eves you'll never get the thing to exhaust right.
If you have vents at you ridges and soffits, natural convection will work miracles for you.
Radiant barrier is also a huge help.
