I can't recall cannabis ever being promoted as a cancer cure. It has been proven to stimulate the appetite when a person undergoes chemotheropy, however.
The drug companies are all over it, by the way. It has been developed into a pill form called "marinol". Unfortunately, THC isn't as effective when delivered this way, so most patients prefer the "old school" doobie.
Another reason the pharmiceutical industry hasn't embraced "old school" cannabis to make money is it's so easy to grow no one would buy it. That's exactly why they lobby so heavily against legalization.
