I'm pretty sure your post is rhetorical, but here are my thoughts:
There is a saying:
Wish in one hand and piss in the other then see which one fills up first.
Crude as it is, this parable demonstrates that it is from your actions alone that your desires come true.
"Will" alone renders nothing, actions motivated by will can accomplish all within the realm of possibility.
“Plow deep while sluggards sleep, and you’ll have enough corn to plant and to eat!”
"Energy and persistence conquer all things."
"He that lives upon hope will die fasting."
