You tube for education

You would hope, huh? Based on the DOEs track record, it's safe to say that they are not very good at thinking of better things for kids to do at school than watching youtube videos. And many students are doing worse things than that.

Sure, the kids can always watch educational youtube videos at home, but they won't--unless they've got special parents that value education and promote learning in the home.

I wouldn't rule out ANY medium if it can add to someone's knowledge base. Gosh, even the ornery nuns used a video now and then, and they were in the stone ages when it came to teaching technique. (A lot of hitting and slapping involved.) That said, I think we need to get back to mastering the basis (3Rs) before we start doing the fancy schmancy stuff.
