I grew peanuts when I lived in Coastal South Carolina. When we lived in the Atlanta area the soil was too dense. There is not even 1/4 as much rain in coastal SC and Georgia as there as here. There would be much more of a challenge growing peanuts here, they are actually from Africa and require sandy soil and some, but not a lot of rain. They are also grown in many parts of Mexico. The plants should grow great, but the actual peanuts would be the challenge.
A base of cinders might allow enough drainage. ??? Who knows? Keep us posted on how they do.

Since peanut plants flower on the stem and then send a 'peg' down into the soil to produce the peanut underground, they are supposed to prefer sandy soil. I have not tried growing them, but would guess they would do well with a few inches of fine-grained mix (or even county mulch if it did not rot too fast) on top of the 'soil'. I am guessing Georgia gets plenty of summer rain on their peanuts, so you just need a well drained medium for the peanuts and then not let them sit too long after they are mature.
