Most people don't think about it because it's just convenient food we eat.
In my opinion though, places like Burger King and KFC are as guilty of promoting cruelty to animals as Michael Vick. I mean, is torture for sport more inhumane than torture for profit? The way a lot of our food is "factory" produced is nausiating to those who are aware of it. Chickens are kept in tiny stacked cages one on top of the other with feces dripping down onto the animals below. The birds are fed antibiotics and growth hormones.
It is all about choice. I choose not to promote these practices by avoiding these places. I also try to avoid companies like Tyson foods when shopping in a store.
What does bother me somewhat, is when someone complains about other forms of animal cruelty like chicken fighting, or chained up dogs....all the while blissfully unaware of the torture involved in the production of their "nuggets".
See the movie; "fast food nation" which has scenes that take you right onto the "killing floor". It may cause you to re-evaluate how you choose your food. Or not.
