Great story. Our own local park, Waikaumalo has benefitted in the past from community projects. To my mind, one of the best uses for the so called stimulus funds would be to supply material to volunteer labor.
Unfortunately, I suspect various government factions and the unions will make sure solutions of this type are a rarity.
