I like weebly, I'm pretty sure damon likes Wordpress. Both have the option of assigning passwords so that only your students can access a site.
Weebly is free and so easy that even I can operate their software. Wordpress is so easy that even Damon can do it ! [

With either one you can set them up and work them for awhile to get a better feel before you go "public" and announce the site.
Or maybe you could have one of your students do it for you. (ha ha joke)
