Carol, I checked out the forum, had never seen it before. Right now it is harmonious but the people who belong have a certain unity that attracted them to it, and already knew each other.
Punaweb is attracts a wide group of people with nothing to unify them as a group other than Puna itself. Some people are social together and some are not. The viewpoints are all over the map. The discussions are fairly serious.
I did like that the splinter group has image hosting and avatars.
I wish Punaweb did. It would be neat in the garden and building forums to post photos of our veggies and whiteflies and caterpillars. [:p]
I belong to another site that has a "fun group" splinter off, which siphoned off a lot of members, and they did spend a lot of energy mocking the original site. Human nature I guess.
People should post where they're happy ...
On a side note, while we're sorta off topic but talking about Punaweb -
I think the five post a day rule diminished the playfulness of Punaweb somewhat, as you don't back and forth when you are counting posts. A little light chatter is kind of nice for making the site warm and fuzzy.
(not that I ever counted my posts, because I started with a low average, but I do think the dialogue changed when the rule came in.)
