I have been having some conversations with officials on related subjects and there is a feeling about that Puna has a lot of unreported crime. Or at least an unknown amount of unreported crime.
Without information on a percentage of crime it is hard to acquire the resources to deal with phantom issues. The impression is that Puna is under served by police. Whether this is accurate or not is a topic being researched. When verifiable data is available it will be shared.
If people are experiencing crime and not reporting it then, to a degree, they are themselves a part of the problem. Awareness must be increased. Reporting must be increased.

Assume the best and ask questions.
