Actually it is Samoa (Independent) that seems to be the worst hit, including with the death toll, even though the waves weren't as high. American Samoa got it in the biggest "city" --
but Upolu has coastal villages that were flattened, disappeared, and their tourist infrastructure, many family owned places, is severely damaged. []
It's all bad, in both Samoas.

I know this is keep it Hawai'i, but in the spirit of putting our concerns in perspective, we are the ones that COULD have been hit. It's not hypothetical for Samoa.
Not that we shouldn't be as prepared as we can, we absolutely should.
