Without the road maintenance issues, there's no need for HPPOA to collect $2M/year in mandatory dues, which means far less to argue about.
That part is true. But then we would be at the mercy of the county and state to take care of our roads. The roads here in HPP were in much better overall condition a year and more ago without all the drama, by-law violations and illegal unethical activities. We can function if logical, sensible people are managing not controlling. Those people do not want any part of participating in this association because of all the behind the scenes shenanigans and agenda which is what got us where we are today.

Don't forget HPPOA needs members money to pay the $12 Million Dollar Road Paving Bond and if I remember correctly there are annual Principal & Interest payments of approx. $1.1 Million thru 2024

If you can, sell and get out of that place.
I think the governance in HPP is that bad.
I've told people who ask me about the various subs:
avoid HOA's like the plague. You'll be one board election
away from disaster.[}

Like the County government that gave developers a free pass on the "must pave before final plat approval" requirement?
How is it that nobody has managed to point their lawsuits at this one?

The March 2015 board minutes have been posted. The June 2015 minutes have been up.
The March 2015 board minutes are pretty accurate. The owner input isn't quite accurate on this and other minutes. One member said their 3 minutes isn't even posted. One member's is edited. This member asked which board member was going to reimburse the association over $6,000 for the unapproved website expenditures that someone's niece was paid.
The person named as the Bylaw Committee chair is inaccurate. Don't know how they got this one wrong...and there's confusion on whether a committee's name is Fugitive Dust or Dust Abatement. I keep seeing reference to both names. The chair told me it's supposed to be Fugitive Dust (#2 version). The VP reported at a mtg that their committee's task is done so they're no longer active.

The county indemnified themselves after approving HPP that's why there's no law suite, I've seen the documents in the county building.

According to dialog at Finance Committee meeting this week, the board is moving ahead with chip seal and has certain roads slated. At the last board meeting the chip seal was rescinded...now they have roads picked out. According to our corporate policy, the board is supposed to get 3 bids. They didn't. Point of order.
They don't care what the membership wants, and don't want to be transparent. They don't care that according to RR's they're not supposed to move ahead until the business of our motion is finished at the Oct membership mtg. Point of order.
We have NO IDEA how much this will cost us, and it's none of our business apparently. Those that ask the questions are called "that scrappy group of residents who chase the rest of you out of meetings".
How about the former Pres w/her slamming rubber mallot chasing members away? Someone I knew who came for the 1st time w/his wife couldn't take it more than 30 minutes and left. His impression was that the former Pres was arrogant and the board didn't nip the GM's out of order behavior in the bud.
The HRC has already had a meeting. Proof is on the August calendar. Someone showed interest on being on the HRC but was turned down by the VP stating they already had their 2 members picked. Point of order. This is all before the board meeting where decisions are supposed to be made.
This Sep the bkkpr and GM's 6 month temporary position will be up. Here we go again w/the VP breaking the bylaws on HRC business and wanting to be in control of who's on the HRC and who gets hired. It's so disgusting. I hope the 2 members are their own people and will follow our bylaws.
If you care about the illegal actions of the board, show up for the board meeting this Wednesday night at 6PM and speak up. Use the "point of order" I posted earlier in this thread when you see illegal moves by the board. They can't ignore all of us.

I wish all meetings were videotaped and put up on the web for off island owners to view.
I was at the "special meeting" last year and was turned off by the behavior on both sides. I had only been to two other meetings, which were many years ago, before everything seemed to go downhill.
It's REALLY hard to tell what is going on if you can't attend the meetings. The minutes don't tell the story like being there would.
Not sure, but I have the feeling that there are a lot of off island owners of HPP who would like better information and would participate more if they had the means to do so.

I drove around the Park yesterday and every street I drove on wasn't mowed, including the main drags.
The first cut of grass along the asphalt is 12-18" high and they have 3 mowers now, not good.
