Those who are anti-GMO have had ample opportunity to advance their views. In fact, they got a law passed, with very little support from the agricultural community. Hearing a different point of view should be very welcome and then the marketplace of ideas can decide.

Kelena, any one who has followed the gmo issue on punaweb, pro or con has a more accurate view of the issue than the dribble aired on hpr, at one point the VP of monsanto said,"everyone eats gmo's" , to that I would say that in my case it was by accident.
Why don't you go to the link posted by paul.w - then come back and see if you learned anything you haven't read here on punaweb? And then you can attempt to enlighten the rest of us with this info.

If I were attempt to enlighten someone, I would first ascertain that they are in the dark. And then I would determine whether there is a fair probability of enlightenment. In this case, I conclude that the subject is very much in the dark, but that, nonetheless, the probability of enlightenment is low. I'll save my energy for gardening, but thank you for the suggestion.
I have to go tend to my contrails now. Then I take a secret flight on a very large military airplane that will circle over lower Puna with its aft end open, sowing paranoia.

This is a fascinating subject.
Do you suppose if one were to shoot at a herd cows with a fully auto 22 cal vitamin gun they could successfully get the correct dosage into all the cows? How many would get an over dose, die, get an eye or two shot out and how many would live the through the proposed vitamin dosing carnage? Seriously... we all know such a vitamin delivery method would be silly.
Introducing - the GENE GUN!
http://www.lifescientz.com/Hand-held-Gene-Gun.htm
It's absolutely fascinating that this is considered by many to be a precise process (it must be that "Star Trek" look that convinces so many). Gut chuckles over here, lol.
I think its time to make a career change and begin making GE foods, a small start up cost, some fooling around in the lab and the greenhouse, no FDA screening necessary just sign a consent for responsibility form and a couple other very minor reports and off to the market with my new products I will go... yum yum. Bet you all are ready to test out my tasty creations eh. No worry, you'll never know my stuff is in your food. Should anything go wrong in another 30 years, I won't give a damn cause I'll be richer than the State and keep em tied up in court while I make more tasty tid bits for you to eat.

How about one of you GE food experts explain to us how a gene gun works and describe its role in the GE modification of plants.
Also fill us in on the history of the first gene gun ever made, the year made and what was used to make it.
Here's a link to get you rolling on the task - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_gun

Huge: New Lawsuit Filed Against USDA over Missing Docs Show, that the USDA withheld documents from the public that revealed that
“USDA determined Monsanto’s Roundup Ready alfalfa posed significant environmental and economics harms and initially proposed placing restrictions on it. Yet the agency went ahead and granted full unrestricted approval one month later. Did the White House intervene? Did Monsanto pressure the agency? The fact is we don’t know, and unless the court orders USDA to hand over these documents we may never know,”

If this was filed in a Hawaiian court I could see the relevance. Otherwise not one word in your post mentions Hawaii and I take this to be stepping into a national debate.
The post will be removed soon unless someone can make a compelling case for keeping the post. Do it quick.
