Expect cost of living in Hawaii to go up faster than the mainland inflation rate.

Just don't raise the minimum wage to compensate, "job creators" hate that.

Was at Target today and the butter was NOT $5.00/pound. It was $4 and some change, lower than many other places in town.

Was at Costco yesterday & paid $8.69 for a 4/1lb. Pkg of Kirkland butter.

Also, $2/lb is insanely cheap; it would only be like that on a special sale. The regular, non-sale/non-discount store price of butter has been typically between $4-5/lb for years.

Target had been $2.35/pound since I started going there. I could see where doubling that would be sticker shock.

Walmart frequently has butter on sale around that price point, however whenever I see the sale price that section of the cooler is always empty.

Unsalted butter (Foodland brand) was $1.79 a pound this morning at Kea'au Foodland.
