I know exactly two people on the big island, lol, and one of them said that when california doesn't have rain, Hawai'i does. Ever since those heavy rain storms that happened a few months back, there has not been a single day of rain here in cali. So, I'm curious too about the rain conditions to confirm if my source is right.

I check this site every morning just to see what the island is doing.

Not a drought in lower Leilani, but down somewhat from prior years. have had almost an inch so far today - and I am in a drier section of Leilani.

Got about 3/4" in Eden Roc today. That makes 31" so far this year which is less than normal. I am not sure how the rain is normally distributed throughout the year but this area supposedly gets 180" yearly on average.

It's been drier for sure, but our catchment tank is full, even with new gardens and more livestock than we've had in the past. The rain is less frequent and we get less of it and for awhile it looked like the lawn might start dying (we've never watered it) but we always have been getting enough "just in time" it seems. It's actually some of the best weather we've seen in the last 5 years.

It is lovely weather! Tanks are full, grass is greening up, Shampoo Ginger poking it's head up since last rain! Gratitude ensues..

Had about 1/8" yesterday, non to speak of today. My tank has decreased from 2/3 full to just over 1/2 full in the last month or so. Wednesday's 3/4" must have helped a bit but just treading water here lately. Love the sunny weather though.

Stories are all over the spectrum from empty tanks and water deliveries to full tanks. I wonder if it's just weather related like more rain up the hill or is it just harvest capability (roof/tank size) versus consumption? We do two showers a day (low flow heads), about a load of laundry and dishwasher daily (both high efficiency), and 25-50 gallons for livestock and gardens a day (much less on days it rains, maybe more if its dry and hot). We've never had water delivery. I'm not even sure our tank has got down to 1/2 full.

I am amazed that other tanks are full when mine is not, given how much it rains here usually. Granted last month I did have company for a few days. My weather station shows only 3.28" so far for April and 32" for 2017.

Latest NOAA bulletin says chances for normal precipitation summer are good, while a dry El Nino winter is likely to follow.
