Where is Tango available to buy for $60? I thought it was several hundred. Mahalo.

Farm Supply Coop sells Tango by the pint, which works out to $60 worth.

Also: the restaurant supply on Bayfront has (or used to have) mini wire whisks that conveniently fit a standard half-inch drill chuck.

BEI, Crop Protection Services, and Garden Exchange (usually) have it. Last time I bought it was last year and it cost $51. Provaunt is a toxicant you can use in the gel bait; it costs $120 but the container makes a lot more.

Tango is also available at the garden store in Pahoa ($50?), but there is a lot of sodding around finding and mixing various ingredients.

Pahoa Feed stocks the small size Tango. They also have Siesta.

The professionals use provaunt, bifen, and Siesta. They use all three. I don't think any of those are licensed for use on food crops, so they will use Tango on those. The guy we hired has Tango for those situations but if you lie and say you're not going to eat the bananas, they skip the Tango. I tried Tango for 8 months and I didn't notice any reduction in the ants. Provaunt and Siesta work well, but no single product solves the problem. The guy we hired uses provaunt and siesta to kill the LFA and bifen as a perimeter treatment. Provaunt and Siesta are bait products where the workers bring the poison to the colony. Bifen kills everything but the downside is that it only kills where it's sprayed. LFA will usually carry the bait poisons for you but only about 10 feet or so.

So is the Tango at Pahoa feed already pre-mixed and ready to use?
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

No, you still have to mix your own matrix.

I went to a BIISC training at a park in Hilo. Their recipe for mixing Tango was pretty easy. Just gotta follow the ratios. They said the mix only lasts about 2 days before the tango starts to rot and doesn't do anything to the ants. I think that's why they don't sell it pre-mixed. Me and my roomates mixed the tango for our yard since we got the coupons. The one bottle has lasted a whole year for our lot in Hilo. Less ants, but they keep coming from other neighbor's yards. One roomate just moved to HPP, so she took the Tango.

I don't want to mess with the surface poisons like the bifen, it'll kill all the bugs, not just ants.
