With construction of the Pahoa roundabout getting the green light (again), does anyone know if that also means the Keaau-Pahoa highway expansion Phase II is back on track? It had been paused due to the lava flow, and if the DOT sees fit to build a roundabout right in the former path of the lava, one would think the extension from Shower Drive to Maku'u Drive could begin again. Especially as it it less likely to be affected by future lava flows (maybe), and as it will actually solve a traffic problem. Once Highway 130 is extended to four lanes to Maku'u Drive, the afternoon merge should be greatly reduced, not just moved to a new location.
