Ace Hardware to take the slightly larger Malama location

....after which, Jungle Love can upgrade to the former Ace location. Look out, Pier 1!

(Seriously, it would be pretty cool -- just add a selection of furniture to fill the space...)

I'm rooting for a bland Asian restaurant that delivers to Orchidland.

This looks like just shifting things around to me. Nothing new and exciting.
Hope it doesn't go by the way of the Orchidland project.
What an eye sore that is.

FYI -- They closed a while ago.

A while ago like in last month sometime? I saw that they were selling off and not restocking, I asked the girl if she might be closing up and she said no... Dunno, not like I go monthly, usually 3-4 months. If it's true, that's too bed, but at least there is one down the road.

I guess they weren't making any money filling 5-15 gallon tanks.

Then again, the little store there next to the fish in chips place that we would stop in and get fuit, said they were gonna be there forever as they told me they were there through the entire volcano deal, then one day GONE! haha Kinda funny. said the same thing.

Sorry to see them go. I tried calling them to see if the rumor was true and nobody answered the phone. Last time I was there I asked about their empty showroom and they said something about just selling propane. I don't know what the strip mall rent there is but it wouldn't make any sense for them to pay to rent an empty showroom when all they need is enough room for a cash register. Maybe they are planning to reopen at the new place or somewhere else.

Yes, it would be funny if they weaseled out of the "must install traffic light" requirement via bankruptcy.

I'm wondering more about the longer-term: the land between the old and new shopping centers will be directly "in the path of development" -- hopefully something useful, not just more retail.

It that true about the traffic light?
Was the shop owner demanding the light?
How do you know this?
A traffic light is needed there. its a precarious situation, pulling out onto the Hwy

Short version: County required a traffic light as part of the SureSave Wiki-Wiki SUP (2005?), but this was discharged in Oahu bankruptcy court as an "undue burden".
