Yes. I don't often agree with kalakoa. but this hits the nail on the head. The Hawaii state and county government are incapable of dealing with a pandemic. They can't even deal with day-to-day issues. Handling the pandemic is way beyond their capability. Sadly, there is really no-one else to take over.

Not to pick nits, but: they choose not to deal with day-to-day issues, and because the unions protect their jobs, they can't be fired for not working. Case in point: anything that needs a permit of any kind.

It's possible that there are undiscovered pockets of competence buried in there somewhere.
