It's always the same.. those that need it the most profess the loudest that they don't
Welcome to the Monkey House. I should have known. You're also an expert at determining who needs help. At any event, I find it ironic that loudest professing is all directed towards me and not the totally ineffectual State Representative who just got handed, not earned, another term on the taxpayer teat. As for the Monkey House reference, I assume you are talking about Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and his unique literary style blending dark humor, satire, and science fiction and are in no way insulting those who may be in need of some form of mental health help. But then again...

Greggor as to why he felt it unnecessary to attend, or even have his office send a rep to attend all the other numerous town halls that were being held with the combined candidates
I can only guess, but as the incumbent he may have assumed he had nothing to gain from attending those meetings. Incumbents almost always win in Hawaii politics. Not saying that’s the best look for someone running for public office, but the reality is what it is. Name recognition, or the “hey I know that guy” or “I’ve heard of that guy” probably gets more people elected than “what did/will that person do?”

Apparently the only winning move is not to play... either on Punaweb or in the Puna candidate forums. AI words to live by.

I emailed Greggor last year for info about the consultant for the latest PMAR, within a day he sent me the name and contact details. Share those with me please.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob,
This is from December 2025: My email to Gregor: Could you update me on a couple of items in your newsletter? 1) Do you know the name of the consultant for your Puna alternative roads, and contact info? 2) Any regulations proposed for the double duplexes in HPP? His reply: Keola Cheng, Planning Director 1907 South Beretania Street, Suite 400 Honolulu, Hawaii 96826 Telephone: (808) 946-2277 Fax: (808) 946-2253 http://www.wilsonokamoto.com Also, I don't have any legislation regarding the duplex issue since it is mainly zoning, unless you have a suggestion. I'm open to ideas. Mahalo, Greggor

Did you have a suggestion for the Double Duplexes?
Affordable housing, YES! Just NIMBY?

Was there ever any follow-up regarding the affordable housing duplexes and/or fourplexes in HPP?

Is anyone running who is against affordable housing in HPP?

who is against affordable housing in HPP?
Here’s a Punaweb math problem for today. You can currently buy a house in HPP for $600,000. or You can buy a ďouble duplex in HPP FOR $1,250,000. 1) calculate the down payment and monthly payments on $600,000. 2) calculate the down payment and mortgage on $1,250,000. a) estimate what you would need to charge to legally rent out one unit. b) develop a viable agricultural business plan for the remainder of the property that is not a house, catchment tank, or driveway so you can legally rent additional units as farm dwellings Is the double duplex more affordable for either the owner or the renters? Or is it more affordable to buy a single family house? This is not a pick one question. Show your calculations. |
