While I think Mike K would look good with a Snidely Whiplash mustache (and also seems to like the "ha ha gotcha" tactic), who is the inept Dudley-Do Right in this scenario - Bob P? The County? And what about Nell - who is being tied to the tracks and railroaded? The County? Area residents?
My favorite interpretation is that Nell is the common good, which both sides disguise themselves as, while doing as they please. Unfortunately no one is playing the role of Horse who usually saves the day and Nell. Disturbingly in this episode, Horse is unable to resolve things and we are left with a setup for another round of the same old games. Sound familiar yet?
Then again, this episode is no less apropos, although it might invert the roles. Keeping digging for those dollars, hoping to win the heart of the fair and distant onlookers, and watch out for the villainous attempts to rob! Off to find another mine...
