Keaau Post Office boxes are FREE if you live in HPP and sign up to be on a wait list for a HPP box. The part of HPP we are on wait list for the PO said it was about a 6 or 7 year wait. Depends which area of HPP you live in how long the wait is. If you live closer to Hwy there are more renters, so more turn over and less wait for boxes.

Do you mean that HPP boxes (and not boxes at the Keaau Post Office) are free if you sign up to be on a wait list for a HPP box? And so is your post office box at the Keaau Post Office?

Normally I'd recommend a rat trap "baited" with mail but you don't want to accidentally get the postal worker.
Somebody needs to setup a hidden camera.

The HPP boxes are free.
I'd advise getting a Keaau PO Box over a Pahoa one - It gets confusing when ordering from someweb sites if there's a different town/zip for USPS vs. UPS/FedEx. No matter where I order, I always put first line as my HPP cluster box address, and 2nd line as home delivery address. Lots of times you can't tell how they're going to ship.

Whuh? It's either a POB or a physical address, isn't it? I think UPS delivers to physical address in HPP. I know this because the very first time I came to my house I found a package from UPS with a different address on it. It was for my neighbor two doors down.

Always use both addresses. Like it was mentioned, the shipper may say UPS, (to a physical address) but then ship it USPS instead and it will sit in the post office (because there isn't any mail delivery in HPP)for the 7-10 days and then be sent back to the shipper. I've had that happen several time in the last 6 years.

If you live in HPP and go to Keaau Post Office and sign up to get on the waiting list for a box in HPP you will get a FREE post office box at the Keaau Post Office until your name comes up on the HPP wait list for an opening for a box in HPP. For my area of HPP the wait is around 6 years. So that means for that time I get a free post office box in Keaau PO.
YES, UPS delivers to HPP. We have UPS deliveries in HPP at our physical address several times a month.

You can shorten that time up by going together with your neighbors and buying a cluster-box and placing it next to the other boxes on your main street.
Talk to the postmaster about how to do it !

I am happy as can be with my free post office box at Keaau. I hope my wait list lasts forever. No break-ins at the PO and they hold my packages. Love PO boxes. Hate street boxes.

I'm happy that I live in a neighborhood where I can ride my bike to the mailboxes to get my mail and it is safe enough that it doesn't get stolen.
Thank You Neighbor Watch !!!
