I am not buying this scenario .... what are the real chances of Japans fall out making to Hawaii in case of multiple melt downs?

Seems most of the jet stream patterns for that area are hard to find all of a sudden. But I remember seeing them years ago and remember that the jet stream winds around Japan head north to the gulf of Alaska and then curve back down along the west coast of Canada and the US. I don't believe Hawaii is in the immediate picture of exposure if something bad happens in Japan. Although longterm is a different story. I'm more worried about them venting it in the ocean and how that would effect things in our oceans?

This is the graphic I saw with regard to this issue. This graphic shows Hawaii "ok" with it all going north and toward West coast U.S./Canada.

Who knows?

Oh man, the delusional people here. I was in the Natural Food store and woman who worked there said people were hoarding iodine! They were saying that a "radioactive cloud" was already halfway the islands! HA! I asked where they heard about it and no one could answer me.

To get a handle on all of this, the Japanese plants hardly released any radiation (yet), and then compare it to the Chernobyl fall out areas and distance it traveled.

If there is a total meltdown it could be an issue, unlike the current happy talk NRC (minor venting prior to the explosion of the containment vessel) press release...its the radioactive dust that enters the atmosphere and settles on the land that enters the food chain....

dilution is not a solution when is come to radiation

after chernobyl (sp?) the milk from cattle in western europe was "hot" for a little while. It will be interesting to see how this plays out

Chernobyl was a different deal.It was a different and very unsafe design it also had no containment dome.

In Japan there has been a release of radioactive steam. The building that was destroyed was caused by a hydrogen gas explosion.

There has been no fallout and the steam will not make it past the coast of Japan.

They never tell you the whole truth. They don't want wide spread panic to develop. But it's really serious in Japan. Two nuclear reactors are going critical! Even if the US is spared the radiationn fallout...the consequences for the Japanese people will have a major impact in the US and Hawaii.

Someone should do a PSA so the clueless types don’t start poisoning themselves with iodine
