Aloha,
The wife and I just moved to HPP (10th ave). Do any of you know if homes are able to catch the over the air digital signals for TV? I'm thinking about investing in a rooftop tv antenna, but would not want to do it if no signals are available.
thanks in advance.

They did not do away with antenna TV, they simply converted old analog signals to the digital format. That is why folks with the old "tube" style tv's had to get those digital converter boxes. Newer flat screen tv's have the digital converter already installed. I'm simply trying to see if anyone is currently catching over the air signals. The cable company would have nothing to do with this. Thanks anyway.

I live on .5th. I can get channel 9 fairly well
And that's about it.
That's using rabbit ears in my living room. If I stand holding the rabbit ears at a 90 degree angle at the edge of the living room I can almost see channel 13...and channel 9 becomes much clearer. But i have a Wifi TV and get alot of my TV with my broadband internet provider with crystal clear reception.

We live on 8th and we get PBS, 9, 11-1, and a few others with analog box, and an indoor antenna. Our T.V is is a Sony, yet we still have the digital stream we purchased from Radio Shack.. We didn't get good reception in the living room, so our T.V. ended up in the bedroom. So try that moving it around the house to see, the best where the best reception is. No roof antenna

Thanks for the responses. I went to the antennaweb site which does an analysis of what would be needed in a particular neighborhood. The site says that 5 channels should be available in the area....with the right, calibrated antenna. Fox and cbs got NFL games, so I just might have to invest in that antenna after all. Thanks again.

I'm on Kaloli Point so a mile or two away from 10th. I get seven digital channels and two analog over the air and that's with a downstairs rabbit ears indoor antenna. I think the reception you get is very sensitive to the terrain in your area so someone a street away can have a completely different experience. Note that CBS is analog here so the picture is not great and I've never been able to get NBC, I'm not sure it's even broadcast over the air here. Fox is good though as is ABC. PBS is also available but I find reception problematic at times.

Something that the cable companies don't advertise is they have a very basic cable subscription for 9.99 a month. I have that and it includes all the basic channels, plus 2 espn channels , TBS, USA, Nick, Comedy central, health channel, spike. That with netflix is plenty of options for me. I'm happy to pay 10 bucks a month for clear reception.

No cable available on 10th, already checked. Only thing available is dish network and direct tv. Not trying to get that because I really don't want all those channels. I'd be fine with 3-4 over the air.
