Introduce yourself
Picturepager,
Sorry to hear the house you wanted in Waa Waa was sold. There are many still here that are not listed but still for sale. There are several people here on PW from here in Waa Waa. If you can share your price range, we might be able to connect you with a seller.

Aloha, People of PunaWeb,

I have been lurking for a few weeks, mostly absorbing all the information you have posted regarding plants, mosquitos, mold, surfing, tree-trimming, politics as well as more current updates (such as high surf forecasts, etc) and active topics. This has been one of the most useful forums I have ever come across, and for that I say Mahalo!

My name is Allison and I live near Pahoa. My boyfriend and I moved to the Big Island from Denver a year ago and ended up renting a beautiful Ohana in HOVE for almost a year. During that time we explored the entire island as much as possible and ended up settling on the Puna district as a place we both loved and could afford.

We purchased a home here and moved in with our two dogs near the beginning of October. While we learned a much about living in Hawaii during our time in Ocean View, the learning curve has only just begun and we've been absorbing as much knowledge as possible from books, people and our own experiments/experiences.

I look forward to becoming an active part of this forum and again, thank you for all the information you have already provided to this newbie. Going forward I will stop lurking and become and active (and non-troll) member.

Cheers,
Allison

My name is Julie Royal, I am the mother of Brittany Jane Royal who was murdered in Kalapana May 28th of this year, she was 3 months pregnant. I have never lived in Hawaii but I know why Brittany was drawn to this Big Island. I live in Orange County, CA. My mission is to find the truth to what happened to my daughter and her unborn child. I wish nothing more than to have fond memories of Hawaii as Brittany did and maybe one day I will. Peace and Love!
Justice for Brittany Jane Royal!

Aloha Everyone,

I'm Tom just moved over from Maui where I lived since 2000. I felt much of the aloha has left Maui and it has changed from the place I fell in love with many years ago. I am a home Inspector as well as a grease and lubricant salesman. I have a small zoo at home in ffve consisting of 2 dogs, 1 cats, chickens, a Muscovy male and 3 parrots. If you need a home inspection or industrial lubricants email me. My website is listed when you click my name.

Welcome to Puna.

Sort of had to LOL at your zoo comment. We brought a dog and 7 parrots here from Alaska and added too many to count since then, though mostly farm livestock.

Tom & Laura,

We visited the Big Island this summer, she had been to the islands previously this was my first trip. Our stay consisted of stops in several vacation rentals around the Island and we were smitten with lower Puna. We purchased a lot in Vacationland and plan to build in the next couple of years. The past 13 years have been spent living in Alaska and we now reside in the High Arctic, Barrow Alaska. Both of us very much look forward to spending some quality time off the North Slope in the future and would someday like to retire to a warmer climate. We love to fish and hunt and almost everything to do with the outdoors. The big islands atmosphere, people and culture hold a certain appeal to us after spending a fair amount of time in Bush Alaska.
Milk is $9.99 a gallon

Minus 42 degrees with wind chill as I am writing this...

Aloha

Did they ever rebuild Pepes?
Reply
I lived in Barrow, too. Hubby said Pepes was a hole in the ground. At 90 will she rebuild?

PEPE's is gone and unfortunately Fran is in Hospice care in Anchorage.
It is highly doubtful PEPE's will rebuild at this point in time.
We do have a lot of new construction as well as a new hotel and sit down eatery opening this spring.
