ATV's. What do you think?
#1
Is there a need? How useful? Should kids be banned from using them? Would it be bad if you could get an AG plate? Who knows the law?

Consider ATV's as the "Hawaii" version of a place like Sun City, AZ, or Palm Springs, CA with their golf carts.

There, the golf cart is licensed and it must be insured and you must have a regular drivers license.

It's all fun and games until I run over one...

That's where it gets weird for me. Technically I have a factional ownership percentage of my subdivision's private roads. If I'm operating a ATV on those roads, which I technically own, how can I be in violation of operating an ATV in a restricted area?

The only "technicality" is County's insistence on having it both ways.

Either the road is private property, and an ATV is legal, or it's not.

Hopefully the test case will have adequate legal representation for the fight.

ATV's are as legal as any vehicle on private (but publicly accessed subdivision roads) Like other vehicles, they must be insured, licensed and registered.

Sounds like a good business model; Set up an ATV/Motocross track on private acreage. Of course you will have to get plenty of liability insurance; Because like all the "fractional owners of a private road", you will be responsible for any accidents or injuries that occur.

There is--or used to be 4-5 years ago--an ATV park off Stainback Highway. We drove through it one time, really pretty property, lots of ups and downs and streams.

Didn't Rosanne try to do something with ATVs on her property awhile back, really pleasing to her neighbors?

I wish they were quieter.
