Please try to open your minds to the truth.
This may be great for Hawaii real estate in the next 100 years, as everyone escapes the freezing North of the Mainland and Canada.
And I will say, if you don't understand or except the fact that the sun controls the climate, you are a fool. The sun controls everything.
Im sorry, I know this is not as much fun as everyone working together to stop global warning.
You can't have a concert to raise funds to control the sun.

Your Hawaiian connection is tenuous at best.

I doubt if either side of the equasion are totally correct. We do have to concede that pollution is a bad thing, but do we need a UN sponsored tax to support the rest of the world? We know that greenland was once farmland, and since then Europe had a mini iceage. Whichever way it goes next are we supposed to take the blame for the whole mess?
Now we're using our horrible air power to help the freezing Chineese, mabe we could gift them some of our unwanted animals to help keep em warm!

No one, absolutely no one is saying the Earth is cooling. It is heating up, thus causing unusual weather patterns that produce extremes of temperature and extreme weather events, including snowballs in Baghdad. The expected impact on Hawaii, in 100 years is the disappearance of beaches, such as Waikiki.
Either way, Hawaiian residents of 100 years from now, will look back with envy at how paradaisacal it was in 2008. Either that, or a benevolent dictator will have declared the entire State a national park, to be visited by lottery.

Okay, Here we go. Debates on national and world topics are not allowed but to the degree that you can peg it to Hawaii then do so. If this runs on in other directions I will lock it up.

I'll bite. I know that if I have oceanfront property and the volcano extends the shoreline out from my property, the new land is the States. With the coming global cooling, when the shore is extended out from my property 100 yrds due to water being taken up by the ice caps, who gets that land? Will the coqui migrate accross a new land bridge to Maui?

Okay to bring this back to Puna....... one of the issues we are seeing is the rise in sea level in Kapoho and along the coastlines in genral, duh. If global dimming is also addressed, the rise in sea level on the east side coast (as well as elsewhere) will accentuate the issue. I would like to see the County Council along with the Planning dept begin to have some real ideas about how to adequately address the rise in sea level - other than just requesting a shoreline survey - such as what should happen to unbuildable land. Or as the earth cools, and the tropics is the place to be , more and more people will be building on the Big Island and many on the coast.
(trying to help you out here radio guy with bringing it back to Puna.)

Can anyone state an unquestionable recorded rise in sea level here for a long period?
Waianae, on Oahu has a sea level mark some hundreds of feet above present sea level! Without industry!
One thing is for sure, flexibility is very critical in these times, if we concede this is all our doing, we are asking for blame when the swells come or the lava flows! With press coverage everything seems so bad, but usually it has precedent!
Same with whales, now we're back to the whaling days in population density, and at least 3 boat hits this year. When do we ban boats (like the North Isles) even to Hawaiians.
Hundreds of children are eaten each year to protect the big cats! Environmentalism, Animal Rights etc are becoming a substitute for religion, and we know where that can lead(remember the crusades)!

Sites such as rense.com, whatreallyhappened.com (great Hawaii based site!) and others have been covering this issue for many years.
I'd go easy on folks who are slow to consider new information, especially in a time where info changes so quickly. Besides, most folks still get their news from the controlled media which lies and manipulates the public.
Yes, the world scientific community does appear to agree that solar activity may and probably does drive solar climate changes, although much is yet to be learned about this phenomenon.
As someone who is invested in Hawaii, I've been very concerned about this and am relieved to see that in fact, this may be largely a natural cycle and agree that global cooling could make Hawaii more desirable, should the northern hemisphere do the deep freeze.
Globally, water appears poised to be an issue and hopefully Hawaii will continue to be favored by the water gods.
