HPP Board 2014
I'm a proponent of a professional management team contracted by the BOD with direction and oversight being provided by said BOD. Bringing a judge into the mix at this point is premature imo.

More to come on that one.

MORGAN: No, there is no forensic audit taking place. What IS taking place right now is the regular annual audit which in itself is pretty detailed.

Democracy does not work as constituted at HPP.

Actually this is a County-wide problem not limited to specific subdivisions.

Kenney,
I'm with you on your view of HPPOA.

Some say receivership is the answer and there just might be a faction steering us in that direction. We certainly are divided and there are those working overtime to keep us that way.
Thru my eyes there ar least 4 groups. The first group being the majority of homeowners who are oblivious to the Board, past, present and their actions. Then there's the group that wants to vilify the newly elected members. Third is the group that wants to vilify the past board.
I'm in the 4th group. Been watching now thru June, Skip , Larry, back to June and now B.J.
We are watching hoping that THIS time a new board will have the skills, knowledge, strength and CHANCE to manage our association. To acheive this, of course, follow our bylaws and all laws.
I have been a director of a homeowner's assoc. before, served on a Quasi judicial Board of a municipality, served on other non profit boards but would not touch this one because of the liability . Many I know feel the same way. I thank those that have stepped forward . They stepped into an already existing dysfunctional mess.

And yes, they were elected via a proper election to represent us. The jury is still out for me as I do not believe they have had enough time to demonstrate their ability . I certainly have not had the opportunity to view them in an uninterrupted meeting.

There are allegations of wrong doing, past employees, previous board members and present board members.
Will it result in prosecution? I do not know. Lawsuits? time will tell.
I do know this "First and foremost, each director must understand that the DIRECTORS are responsible for the governance of the Corporation". This applies to the past group as well as the current Board of Directors.

As long as the current factions are the only alternatives, oversight by the BOD will remain an on-going political bloodbath.

How remarkably similar to USian "democracy"...

What is the solution? I hope you have answers, because I sure don't.

Democracy does not work as constituted at HPP. I go to meetings, even participating sometimes. I vote in every ballot. It does no good because of the high numbers of absentee owners and the apathy among the rest. All you people arguing in this thread just don't get it. You seem to think that if only your faction triumphed, things would be great. Well, they wouldn't because everybody in this picture has screwed up and has political blood on their hands.

As I've said before, only a judge-appointed professional management team has a chance of fixing this.

could not agree more. To say that we ought to wait and see....how long would that be another 10, 20 years. In the meantime we have a tight group who is flying under the radar with hundreds of homeowners that just pay and forget they have a say in what needs to be done. The Board and the staff deal with millions of dollars that are ours. if the lava does not ran over HPP I think more people will move in making it in fact a thriving subdivision. Only then people will start looking at this bunch of pretenders and tell them to hit the road. That or we all stop paying the assessment and tell them to go an sit on an egg. jdo

Chunkster!
Sadly I agree with you and JohnD. Things are really messed up.

Reni, Your assessment of the situation really helped me sort out all the faction issues. Thanks for the food for thought.
I'd like to be in group 4, but the things I've seen and heard in the last 2 months have left me with serious doubts. I hope I'm wrong.
I propose a group 5, people who will work with anybody who has the good of HPP residents in mind, no matter what side of the fence we WERE sitting on.
Iselle really opened up my eyes to a lot of things. I saw for myself who was there at the Activity Center and out in the community sweating in the sun, serving the needs of the people of HPP. (and who wasn't) It was a surprise to me. I've had to adjust my thinking accordingly.
This isn't about a person or group getting their way. This is about the good of our community.
I still have hope, but it's dwindling.

Having first hand knowledge of the ongoing situation I read this thread and just shake my head. Some of you seem to understand the dynamics of what has taken place some just don't have a clue and it not your fault for it seems you may have been given inaccurate information. Don't allow yourselves to be sucked into the drama for you may end up feeling foolish at the end of the day. Don't be so quick to judge - the truth will come to the surface eventually - it always does. Please stop blaming the past president for all the problems - she was one of 9 and did not make all the decisions herself. Many of the past board members only showed up once a month for a meeting, some didn't show up at all - she unselfishly dedicated herself everyday and had to deal with few nasty board members who made it very difficult to get any business done. For those of you in attendance at the special meeting on July 28th and the special membership meeting this month I can tell you that a few of the new and past board members and some of the owners who spoke to the membership lied right to your faces on some issues - I watched it with my own eyes.

Remember - there are two sides to this unfortunate situation and enough people have already been hurt and continue to be by the actions of this new board.

This will be my only post!

Sincerely,

Cathy Fincher

I don't live in HPP so I really don't have a dog in the fight.... but this is actually getting humorous. A newbie appears from the heavens, descends from the ether with stone tablets delivering God's wisdom and ascends again to above leaving only the wisdom of the tablets. Last words being "This will be my only post."

It's so Old Testament. Maybe Mormon even.

Sorry, I can't help it. It's not supposed to be funny but I can't help it.

Cathy, Welcome to Punaweb.
