Further reading about this amazing discovery:
https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/201...ough-space The discovery was made using NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and the National Science Foundation's Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array. Schinzel, together with his colleagues Matthew Kerr at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, and NRAO scientists Dale Frail, Urvashi Rau and Sanjay Bhatnagar presented the discovery at the High Energy Astrophysics Division meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Monterey, California. A paper describing the team’s results has been submitted for publication in a future edition of The Astrophysical Journal Letters. i wonder if this was too fast for ukirt to spot ? Is Matthew Kerr a related ?

1) This has nothing to do with Hawaii.
2) Pulsars are radio-bright but infrared-faint. That's why it's being studied by radio telescopes and not infrared telescopes. 3) Too fast? Well, of course not, it's thousands of light years away and its proper motion is minute compared to what UKIRT can track.

Rob - you might want to keep an eye on some of this. Posting a completely unrelated article that just happens to have a Kerr name so it can be used to troll a known user?
Not very subtle message from dan d and RWR...

Dan, as I said before, this forum frowns upon posting links without comment and also posting stuff that is not related to Hawaii.
I'm not a Moderator or anything, just trying to help. Thanks.

Is Matthew Kerr a related?
I don't think that paper was authored by our illustrious astronomer, though I am sure, now that you have asked, he will be glad to post links to some of his more illuminating research... |
