Do your own homework, AaronS, told you already, not responding "tit for tat" with you, or anyone on this issue.
However, here's my answer to your question, and then I'm done: I know a couple people on that "Advisory Council". They think it's a joke, too, yet, in preservation of potential appointments "upward" in the political field, they do what they must, in hopes of promises made for future positions. Everyone has a position in this, but everyone has their own agenda, be it personal, financial, or power driven. Politics, should you choose to play the game, has lovely "carrots to dangle".
Now, I'm pau.

Aaron S @16:40:57- Thank you. That's my understanding too.
opihikao @ 16:58:29- I'm very cynical about OHA's role in all this.

" I will await your apology which never comes, bloody tosser. Look dude, it isn't your fricking mountain and I have more right to it than you do, as lord conqueror of the Hawaiian realms. This picture is from a few months ago, and they have shown shots of the ahu built in a big leveled area since then.

That's the dirt road to the TMT site. It's been there for years.

Opihikao, I've followed the TMT project since 2008 and even blogged about when I had a blog, so I don't need to my "homework", as you stated above. I've archived a lot of the documents pertaining to this project, so I can refer back to them whenever I have to refute false statements from people like you.

Aaron,
Really appreciate what you do. I think Opihikao owes you an apology. However, you also have to understand that observatory staff and protesters need to practice a hell of a lot of diplomacy because both groups are up there and in direct contact. You might even say conflict.
I hope you continue to post the truth, just bear in mind it can cause antagonism for some, and then we all lose if it comes out on the mountain.

As for when the state plans to enforce the new rule, that is yet to be seen.
Interesting and semi-related issue:

Apparently when people "occupy" a bank-owned (foreclosed) property, there's no way to kick them out, even though it's obviously trespass and there is no ownership dispute. Having proved unable to work through a "simple" situation like this, I'm now completely unsurprised that the authorities are seemingly unable to get the TMT protestors off MK.

As zealous as you are Aaron, I do not think blogging in itself qualifies anyone as anything other than someone with an opinion that takes advantage of the internet to express it. I've read your stuff and find it a mixture of real information and your opinion on the subjects you write about. Nothing new there, and truly not qualified as fact or truth or whatever holier than thou position you're suggesting in the line I quoted above.
You're taking my words out of context. I've spent a lot of time "doing my homework." I came to my opinions based up the extensive research I've done on TMT, or you can insert any project I've followed. In other words, I don't make up my positions out of thin air.

Tom, thank you for your kind words. I've lost several friends because of my position on this project. However, I still push forward, as I believe in the TMT and want to see it built despite all the naysayers out there.
By the way, Opihikao, I spoke to someone at OHA that I know and this person is going to check on your latest allegation that OHA is going to bring up the need for the TMT to do a Section 106.

Aaron, I always appreciate your input.
Opihikao, are you still a supporter of the telescope? Just wondering.

Yes, PaulW, with conditions, (and some reservations at this point).
Oh, Aaron, I'm so glad you have OHA friends, I'm sure they'll tell you everything the Trustees, and their minions are doing. Good for you!

ETA: There are companies who hire people to support their project on line, and pay them for "blogging/commenting" whatever the proper terms is (I don't do all that Facebook/Instagram whatever thing). The TMT people do have their social media campaign, to counter the protestors/protectors online efforts. I'm curious if we have a couple of those paid bloggers/commenters right here on PW. Interesting new technical world we live in.
