TMT Work to Resume Says Ige!
"Back to topic, so when is TMT going to continue construction?"

Just so you know, Opihikao, none of the current observatory senior staff know. It seems to be a secret or even TMT doesn't know. That's all I, er, know.

Aloha ahiahi, Mr. Tom. What a pleasant post, as "common ground" may become a reality. [Smile] Aloha to you, Sir, and to gypsy69.

I believe common ground can be found. You both are evidence of that train of thought. Blessings to you both.

P.S. So, where are we, TMT, Ige, et al? Let's move this forward, and then get to the guts of what the Hawaiian people (those uneducated, EBT collecting, barbaric, simple folk...) want from "us"...Shall we?

Aloha, Sir. That seems to be the perverbial problem (the "secret" or plural, which ever applies). Get on with it, this is getting tiring for all. Oh, and DLNR doesn't know WTH is going on (both "boots on the ground", and freaking "Admin"). Good God. Beyond words at this point.

Stand up for your belief, pro TMT or against TMT, but, for God's sake, WTH is with the "secrets"? That lends to mistrust (again), and more BS. [Sad!] (*Not you, Mr. Tom, those "powers that be". UGH!)

Permits are issued. Legal grounds have been laid (somewhat), and move forward. What's the problem? (Rhetoric, again; get plenty perceived problems apparently)

What you do in the dark will come out in the light, again. Mahalo e, Tutu.

Yeah, JMO.

Opihikao,

Many on the observatory side of things share your frustration, including me. I think I'm going to watch some old episodes of "Yes Minister" just to relieve some frustration and anger. I don't know if you have ever watched that series (the sequel, "Yes, Prime Minister", is even funnier).

Since I can't see the bloody meteors, Sir, I thank you for your link. I shall sit here and watch this for entertainment. Mahalo again, you are a wealth of information. (And there's my 5 posts for the day! [Big Grin])

Aloha ahiahi, Sir. Rest well.

JMO.

How did they manage to build this playground without the protestors and a national media spotlight?

I thought Mauna Kea was sacred and no construction was allowed.

Because it's not about the ropes, it's not about the rails, or the ladders.
It's about the keiki.
(but sorry keiki, the swings at the park don't offer scholarships)

As usual, then: shiny-happy-feelgood projects are okay, just nothing substantive that creates an investment in the future.

I consider the TMT to be a shiny, happy, feel-good project. ...in addition to being substantive.

Unfortunately it's also a huge desecration of the sacred mountaintop ... which a playground apparently is not.

Just making it up as they go along...
