I'd be more concerned about if the tiger food is GMO free or not and whether or not the tigers are pro-TMT these are the important issues of to tiger or not to tiger on the Big Island.

I would posit that you are the one rationalizing. So far there has been little evidence produced to prove that the local zoo causes any amount of suffering, just a lot of mud slinging.

The same can be said for nearly every human interaction with animals. Every animal that has ever been hunted, fished, or domesticated (dogs, cats, pigs, donkeys, birds, cows, horses, etc etc) have been exploited by humans. Unless you have NEVER eaten or worn an animal product, been vaccinated, rode a horse, or ever owned, pet, or admired a domestic animal... guess what: YOU are part of the animal exploitation problem. Next time you see a blind guy with a German Shepherd dragging him around, make sure you give him holy Hell. The dog probably dreams of a 1 acre enclosure to run around in with it's siblings and raw chickens and turkeys to eat every day... and wild roosters to chase.

Exactly, because you know thats exactly what a dogs habitat was like before domestication.

Terracore, yours is a good rationale and excuse for the controversial dentist lion hunter too. Hear about all the elephants massacred lately? The moral of the story is...the more we objectify animals, the more abuse they will receive.
Edit to add....
Have a chat with our local Humane Society manager, he'll let you know how many thousand of abused pets are euthanized in Puna each month.
It's time to rethink the whole pet dynamic, don't ya think? Seems to me like it's not working too well and in need of an overhaul. Criminalizing zoo's would be a good start in teaching children that abuse of animals is NOT ok. And for a good starting reason that those who abuse animals will often abuse other humans.

We should probably just make a big bubble to live in and never leave it so we don't impact the environment in any way.

Like a zoo housing humans?
Name that fallacy. Something involving wildly exaggerating someone else's position. I don't see how challenging the concept of the zoo equates to the statement quoted above.
