Need help with a coqui

Citric Acid works for me. Spritz 'em with a spray bottle and they react like it's itching powder. They don't die right away, and maybe some live, but they sure do shut up and leave.

Every so often I have a coqui frog trying to turn my lanai into their musical stage. These are some common household goods I've found particularly effective.

Baking soda: a small handful thrown in the general direction of the noise will immediately quieten the frog and they don't come back;

Table salt: same as above;

Lemon or lime juice: those squeezable plastic containers that look like lemons or limes are great if you can spot the frog. A quick squirt aimed at the frog will make it disappear instantly and it won't be back.

Don't let your pets eat coqui frogs or geckos, because both coqui frogs and geckos eat LOTS AND LOTS of bugs, which sometime contain eggs. These hatch in your pet's stomach & thrive in the intestine.

Citric acid should work better than lime juice as you can make it as strong as you like. It's not really toxic. Tons of it are used as a food additive. Lots of beverages are loaded with it. It also works very well as a mild rust remover if used as a bath. I've derusted several motorcycle tanks with it with good results. I've no personal experience using it on frogs but it lime juice works citric acid should. Maybe you should place some quartz crystals around your house.

It makes me mad that I have to spend money on expensive citric acid just for one big frog! So I'm going to try baking soda. I can't catch them because they're in the rocks and bushes at night and I'd probably fall down the lava tube! I'm also going to try bleach in my hose-sprayer because this particular frog is out from my window too far to sprinkle by hand. If I can just "move him" further away from the bedroom, that would be fine. Thanks for all the good advice! Aloha.

Are you sure you have a coqui? I've never heard them described as big. Maybe it's a bufo?

Coqui - about 1 - 1 1/2 inches, loud high pitched chirp, will climb up into trees and bushes at night when it's possible
Bufo - 4 - 5 inches, low deep call, almost like a growl, stays on ground at night

If one of these things gets into a gutter drainpipe up high, the entire house will resonate from their chirping. It is also almost impossible to locate the varmint. To make matters worse, it is dark in there and they will chirp all day.

The solution is to get on a ladder and pour some bleach into the gutter drain where the frog lives. It doesn't take much.

I mix hydrated lime and water into an old half working sprayer and shake it up good. I use old sprayers because they invariably get clogged by the stuff but it's easy enough to take apart and clean out. Then I go around my house and spray all my cement pillars so there is no way for the varmints to get into my gutters without passing the hydrated lime barrier. Of course then I go and spray home defense on the same spots to keep out the fire ants but that has worked for me to keep these pests away from my home. I mean geez I don't mind co-quis that much but there is so much forest for them. They can't have my house too.
