Apparent tripple homicide in Leilani

Very disturbing news!

We are ofcourse concerned as to who the three victims were(rip) also where in leilani this happened? Thank goodness the police responded quickly, they also did a great job by stopping that vehicle the suspect was driving before it left the leilani subdivision. Some what Amazing to me that I have never met or seen this guy Hoffman before, don't think he is really from here.

It happened on Moku Street near Kahukai. The street is currently cordoned off with police vehicles present.

He is not new. He has been here for a while. He used to run a trash service in Hawaiian beaches. I met him once. I found him to be a very angry "the world is out for me" person. However, it wasn't very concerning at that point. More of just an angry guy. Years later, it appears he has spiraled to a deadly path of paranoid schizophrenia.

This is the second incident, and now the 2nd, 3rd and 4th violent deaths where the police had been called about a disturbance and arrived too late, the woman who was murdered in Kapoho was the first. While it is good the cops got there before this guy drove away with the body, it would be so much better if the response time to domestic disturbances had been fast enough that no one died. I would like to see the Puna county councilors ask some hard questions about response times in Puna, and how the police prioritize calls. When neighbors make that call they need to know there will be a response in a reasonable amount of time. I know LEOs hate dealing with domestic disputes, but I am pretty sure they hate finding the bodies of murdered women and children even more.

they caught the dude, thats impressive right there, for how rural this area is.... if the cops were a couple minutes later, he may have gotten away, and set up an alibi w/ the 2 kids murdered, and the woman as 'missing' ...then blaming her...??

Shock - your post started well but went downhill quickly. There are very few police officers covering the whole Puna area. It's simply not possible for the current complement of police to be available everywhere.

The biggest problem is not prioritizing calls, it's that there are too few police officers in Puna.
