I was doing my daily walk down Makuu to the ocean and a dog ran out from the driveway of a home and bit me in the leg and caused it to bleed and bruise. I went to the house where the dog came out from and told them their dog bit me. And they told me that they dont have a dog. Called the police to report it but they were too busy to show up. Then the dog disappeared.... Anyway...This dog was a brown pitbull medium size with a black collar and tags and was last seen on Makuu Drive just ocean side of Beach Road.

That's terrible! What time was this? There are people on Wahi Heiau (street between Beach and the Ocean) that let their two dogs run free in the morning and in the late afternoon. One looks a bit like that, the other is very small. I'll keep a look out for it.

It happened at 4:45 pm. I'll file a report tomorrow. Hopefully no one else walking in that area will get bit.

I walk my dog(S) there every day (but not today) and there are all kinds of untethered dogs. Beach to Paradise is always a gauntlet of hounds! I am less concerned when I'm with my dogs, but I carry wasp spray when I am on my bike.
So sorry to hear this!

That's the right time. I was chased (on my bike) by a similar dog at the same location one day at that time. I assume the owner gets home then and lets them out. The dog that came after me definitely lives on Wahi Heiau.

Police finally showed up and took my statement. They believe they know who the owner is because this has happened before in this area not to long ago. And yes the owners live right around the corner on Wahi Heiau. Officer said he was going down there this evening to talk with them.

You can also call the Humane Society, if you can figure out who owns this dog. They may come out, pick up the dog, and then notify the owner, who, if they want the dog, will have to pay a fine to get it. Just went through this with some dogs from a nearby house, that entered our property and killed our rabbit )after busting up the cage), tried to get into our chicken coop to kill them, and then DID kill 3-4 chickens at my neighbors place. I ran out that morning to chase them off, and that's when I fell and blew out my right knee. Next time I see one of those dogs in my property, there will be Winchester round nose pellet embedded in their ass.
Get a modern slingshot, do some target practice till you can sink a marble in a 6 inch bullseye at 15 yards, and carry it in your back pocket. I won't go into the stories about my family members being attacked and bit when jogging and riding a bike on my street. Cops involved both times. Once was a pitbull biting everyone in sight.
I walk softly and carry a big stick. I now will defend myself AND press charges. Every time.

When a neighbor's pit bull bit two different people on our old street in HPP the cops and Humane society were unhelpful to say the least. The Humane society told everyone who called (pretty much everyone on the street) when the dog was out harassing kids and pets that without photographic evidence they couldn't do anything because it was the dog owners word against the witnesses and we might just be ganging up on the dog owner. When someone took in photographic evidence the Humane society staff were rude, unhelpful and suggested the people on our street were just being mean to the dog owner. We are talking about dated photos taken over a period of weeks showing the dog in the street or on other people's property, and they just blew it off. This is why the people with kids on that road can't even let them walk to and from the school bus stop, the kids have to call from the end of the street when they get home to have their parents drive down and pick them up.
Expecting either the Humane society or the police to help with problem dogs is an exercise in futility.
