wait until all the birds in your yard explode the next time you turn on your microwave
...
_That's_ why my birds are exploding???
...
Bought my 1st microwave in about 1970
I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but if you microwave hot water for your morning coffee just before daylight, when the birds are still perched in trees and shrubs around your property they'll conveniently burst in close proximity to the largest plants in your yard, those most in need of a regular dose of fertilizer. With this minor adjustment in time management, you'll also minimize the early morning chore of random yard cleanup before work.
We don't have that wise old saying from the 70's for nothing, "Kill two birds with..."

Always blamed PGV before.
That depends. Was your microwave running on PGV power at the time?

I don't care for the flippant jokes regarding birth deaths, since human actions are directly responsible for a stunning drop in the number of birds now found world wide.
Bisphenol, pthtlates, sp?, what's not to love. LOL.
My wife bought some super heavy duty glass containers for our food storage. You'd probably have to take a sledgehammer to them to get breakage.
No, I don't trust the FDA. Their personnel has become a revolving door of the industries they're tasked with regulating. This, and under funding, has left them in a position of incompetence.
The pouches are probably OK, but who here is buying them? Not me.

You're supposed to let the water COOL before watering the plants with it.

IF you have ever boiled food in a plastic bag, ate at or eaten out at restaurants, you have been "bagged" either by micro or sous-vide methods.

This might have something to do with it:
More than 9 billion chickens, along with half a billion turkeys, are slaughtered... in the United States each year... Worldwide, more than 50 billion chickens are raised and slaughtered annually.
Hawaii is about .5% of the US population, so that's a lot of birds.

"correlation vs. causation"
"The study, which was a presentation at an autism research meeting, did not find a causal link between taking folic acid and autism. What the study actually found was pretty specific. The researchers took blood tests of close to 1,400 mothers between one to three days after they gave birth and found that about 10% of the mothers had very high levels of folate, beyond recommended amounts, and that these women were also more likely to have a baby that would later be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder."

I won't microwave in the bags, either; I move the contents to a glass dish. But I def microwave and even use the plastic containers that frozen foods come in. Meh. Whatev. I don't smoke. I don't drink (hardly). I don't live in an urban environment w/tons of smog. I don't do a gazillion other things that are bad for me. If it ain't one thing that's going to kill me, it's another. I'm ok with microwaving, just not in a plastic bag. The MAIN reason I don't use the bags are that when you pull it out of the microwave, how the heck are you going to cut it open w/o burning yourself in the steam? Corning Ware doesn't have that problem. Even in Puna. (Puna ref!!)

Durian Fiend,
"I don't care for the flippant jokes regarding birth deaths,"
No one has made jokes about birth deaths.
"...since human actions are directly responsible for a stunning drop in the number of birds now found world wide."
Seriously, if people start thinking a joke about someone making a deeply flawed claim that birds are exploding due to the technology used in microwave ovens, then I fear for the future of comedy and satire. Or common sense.
