Jacaranda Tree

Jacaranda is not native, and I recently saw a TV show on home rehabbing where a professional landscaper (in Los Angeles) removed three of them because the roots are invasive. He didn't say not to use them, just to keep them well away from foundations and water/sewer pipes. I guess they would be OK for large lots, and I agree that they are beautiful in bloom.

Both myself and my neighbor planted the jacarandas knowing the trees' reputation for being messy and surface-rooting. We both planted them on our dirt road frontage, far away from our houses and catchments.(we have acre lots). I would not recommend planting one anywhere near a house, lawn, or paving.

ry on the net, as a Empress tree?

The Empress tree is a very fast growing tree which blooms in lavender color, however it is not a jacaranda different species.

Yeah - the lady who gave me the seeds was saying it is a real pain with the mess...but I'll tell you what - dang if it's not the prettiest thing I ever saw when it's in full bloom! Maybe someone near our new home will have one that I can admire, aye?
