Again Obie, as a lot owner, former board member and former BLC member, you are making evident that you have not read the bylaws. I shouldn't be surprised bc the past 3 boards, (including YOU) Jul 2014 up to Jun 2017, have broken many many bylaws. It's hard to tell if it's pure ignorance, stupidity or .... (anyone care to finish the sentence?)
Obie, since you are a politician "wannabe" who ran against Joy San Buenaventura, I think you may want to hear this since it is adverse to your saying "most GM's are empowered". A politician told me...."the word around town is that the GM runs HPP, not the board." She did not approve by her tone. BTW, ending your sentences with explanation points as you often do in your posts doesn't make it true or right.

Let me see if I understand you correctly obster, is your definition of empowerment with the GM mean that he can lie to the Association, to members of the board and to committees, i.e. the FC, about almost everything? Let's pick one example to clarify, one that you are already aware of, one that was recently unearthed by the due diligence of a couple new board directors who aren't intimidated by him.
The water truck. Remember how for more than 2 years he lied to every one about not needing a CDL licensed driver to water our roads since "we are private roads"? Turns out that was an easy lie to disprove. How about allowing that truck to drive our "private roads" without it being state registered for more than 2 years? Can you state with certainty that his statement that the truck has insurance is not a lie? I have no idea how an insurance company would insure an unregistered, non-safety checked vehicle, let alone a commercial truck.

I'd like to add to caveat emptor's discussion that some board members, the GM, other employees and former reps, are upset that the discovery of this CDL license issue has been exposed. They are blaming the current board Pres bc she was instrumental in getting to the truth after a member came forward at a board mtg asking her to look into this. I believe, any of the past 3 boards would've ignored the question as they did so many other concerning questions. Dist 5 rep did her due diligence as the board pres in protecting the best interests of HPP. She deserves accolades from members for what is coming at her by those who want to take us back to the dark ages. If they depose her, pls question those reps that participated. Such a maneuver would be highly unethical IMO and will say a lot about who they really are.

HPP problems will remain forever because those who want change are more hung up about a troll than fixing perceived problems. Obie has become an obsession for some and Punatalk has become a place to whine, over and over again, but nothing gets done and nothing changes.
For those that want something to happen, perhaps another tactic or strategy is worth a try? The current strategy isn't working. I speak as a resident of HPP who's fed up with all the whining.

Same with County problems. It's nice that people are willing to try fixing these, but it's also a little depressing to watch them fail over and over and over. Puna has a bigger population than Hilo, right? How much bigger does it have to be before we get representation?

Tom, have you seen the forensic analysis thread? Looks to me like these people are doing something about it, not "whining" about it. . You brought obie into the conversation yourself.

kalakoa, thanks for observing that there are people who are trying to fix this mess.
It doesn't help when people whom I believe are members, complain that things will never change, are fixated on what they perceive as whining instead of supporting those efforts for change, and defending instigators, trolls, who have an agenda to undermine those efforts. The trolling goes deeper than what it appears here on PT. There are tenacious people who are obstructing and undermining the efforts of those that want transparency and oversight w/HPP money. The question is why? And why defend those that are a part of that agenda including one who posts here on PT in that effort? Her posts are deliberate. All their actions, obstructions and throwing shade at those that want change, make their agenda crystal clear. If you want change, you need to be a part of that change and if not, at least support those that are in the trenches. The petition for a forensic analysis is one GIANT STEP towards that change. IF mismanagement or corruption is brought out via a forensic analysis, this will bring about a big change and wipe that smut right out of HPP business. There is an effort for a big change coupled w/the forensic analysis, and that will come out in due time. So meanwhile, please support those that are in the trenches trying to make a difference and please sign the petition and forward to others. We need to start fresh w/a clean slate like yesterday so we can move forward.

I originally posted about HPP because I wanted to help. It's obvious now that you don't want help but are you kidding me , you want to spend thousands of dollars on a really fancy audit that isn't needed because you don't like the way your money is spent. !!
Go to Facebook to find out why my friends call me Obie ! You have this great big bond that I am sure the holders of the bond are keeping a close eye on. Why on earth would you need to do this expensive audit when you are under a microscope from the bank ??
