Accidental Shooting in Ainaloa
#11
if a gun is not present it can not be fired

If a large vehicle is present it cannot be driven into a crowd.

enthusiast can talk about safe keeping and good practices

Safe keeping and good practices are always required, regardless of the relative "enthusiasm".

Accidents happen. Intentional killing happens. What we have is a social ill.

Keep blaming the tools and regulating the side effects while we go extinct in this unique biosphere. At this point it's more than we deserve.

Keep blaming the tools and regulating the side effects

If humans lived in the world of reality, understanding and accepting that tools can be both helpful and harmful, that they can be used for good, intention harm, or unintentional harm, then they might observe all safeguards necessary when owning that tool.

Whenever we ignore the possible negative side effects a tool might have, through ignorance, neglect, or obtuse thinking, then there are people perfectly willing to substitute care and caution with blame and regulation.

My condolences to the family and friends of the young woman.

On Tuesday night, 9/18/2018 Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono had another message for the Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee “Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing.” She added in another related comment, “Bull$hit.”
“We do this thing not because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy.”

Mine, too; that was never the point:

If humans lived in the world of reality

Humans are wonderful, and terrible, beings. I am sad to watch; I cannot turn away.

I'm not a gun person but I willing to respect the constitution and right to bear arms. It's very important to a good percentage of our population and I choose to respect them and their rights even if I don't like guns.

"That's the cost and responsibility of freedom."

Many countries have the same or more freedoms without one gun per capita.
The death of this young person was completely avoidable but some choose not to avoid it. Maybe you think it's worth it. I don't.

Treat all guns like they are loaded untill you actally look in the chamber to see otherwise. Dont touch or go in front of a gun unless you have done the above. Dont leave a gun loaded, you are resposible for it being so. Store all guns out of reach of children.

Learn how to unload a gun even if you dont like them.
My heart goes out to the family, AUWE

Hopefully the police will release the findings of their investigation of the shooting. I'm still having a hard time believing there was no foul play involved. People don't accidentally shoot themselves in the head unless they are playing with a gun or being incredibly negligent in handling it. Which begs the question why would she be handling the gun in a blatantly foolish manner?

There is the left and the right and thenthere is Occam’s Razor. Regardless of what happened in this incident Hawaii has an unacceptable high rate of suicide for young adults shining light on it is the only solution.

Perhaps if their future included better options... not everyone wants to ride the bus for hours so they can clean toilets at a resort...
