Eating organic foods help ward off cancer.
#1
For those that start with, "what does this have to do with Puna?"

Well... We eat food in Puna. Cancer exists here too.

This topic is connected with all my beliefs and posts here on Puna-Web in the past.

This study show's you are 25% less likely to get a cancerous disease if you eat organic. 25%!! That is huge:

Want to dispute the reputation of the website? Here's another:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/22/health/or...index.html

Guess what? If you're eating food that is GMO then you aren't eating organic. Also if you're eating food that was sprayed with Roundup then you aren't eating organic.

Okay inserting sarcasm here because that is the language that many posters here understand best: Yeah guys, there is no advantage in eating organic food. Those damn hippies that do that are just off their rocker huh?

"As far as EW is concerned, he's welcome to live in his utopian fantasy world where he grows his own (completely organic) food in his victory garden free of any man-made pesticides - I wish him well with that... as long as he doesn't require that I do the same."

IMHO "Organic" is one huge marketing campaign, and only that, and I couldn't care less about GMO, one way or another. Getting enough Calories??? Now that is a different kettle of fish entirely.

Monsanto hasn't lost anything, yet.

All food is organic, except if you eat rocks.

Viva the appeal process!

if you are so insistent on not being exposed to synthetic chemicals, then buy only certified organic ... and take your own risks for exposure to salmonella and rat lung worm and all the other entirely natural nasties that those synthetic pesticides and treatment chemicals are intended to curtail....

Another victory for the anti-science crowd, hooray. It will indeed be interesting to see what effect this has.
I hope it leads to a range of products proudly labelled "non-GMO" and twice the price with no health benefits (just like Organic).
Lack of education will cost you sooner or later.

(insert sarcasm again): yea no heath benefits at all.

Organic labeling is a farce anyway because there are so many loopholes to circumvent the requirements. Organic labeling is a bureaucratic process, not a method of farming.

I prefer inorganic food.

The organic foods industry is a con of credulous - and often unwell - people to induce them to pay extortionate prices for no benefit whatsoever.

(more sarcasm) -yup geochem no benefit whatsoever huh? Eat organic crow.

P.S. Even though this is brand new, (the study and results) many of us already knew this to be true.

It's called intuit.

Should I post an article about the awesome new Toyota because "we drive cars in Puna too"?

Organic food is a con, there are far cheaper ways of living a healthy lifestyle.

I gotta say you have a really bad attitude, first off. Second off, do you know how people calculate cancer, or the rates of cancer? Yeah, they use math and science. Which intuition doesn't have anything to do with. All these statements do is make me think you're a vestigial antiquarian.

"This study show's you are 25% less likely to get a cancerous disease if you eat organic."
It says no such thing. And for the love of god, learn to use apostrophes properly.

From the New York Times:
“From a practical point of view, the results are still preliminary, and not sufficient to change dietary recommendations about cancer prevention,” said Dr. Frank B. Hu, one of the authors of the commentary and the chairman of the department of nutrition at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

He said it was more important for Americans to simply eat more fruits and vegetables, whether the produce is organic or not, if they want to prevent cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends consuming a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains instead of refined grains and limited amounts of red meat, processed meat and added sugars.

--
People will eat more fruit and vegetables if they cost less, not when they're ridiculously overpriced like "organic" food.
So, organic food actually causes more cancer.

Organic food is a con

Organic food is a real thing. Big Ag is a con.

Try reading labels sometime. Why is there 2 grams of sodium in a can of soup or chili? Unhealthy whether or not the food is "organic".

"The study authors ranked the volunteers according to how frequently they ate organic foods and divided them into four equally sized groups. This revealed that the people who ate organic food most often had higher incomes, more education and higher-status jobs. They were also more likely to exercise, to have quit smoking, and to eat higher amounts of healthful foods such as fruits and vegetables. All of these things are associated with a lower risk of cancer."

Lot more than organic food involved.78% were women too.

I really don't need to say anything else here. The study speaks for it's self. Volumes.

It represents the majority of what I stand for.

And furthermore it pretty much confirms and corroborates 90% of my disputed posts in my history of posting on PunaWeb.

When I stand in line at the grocery store, people in line who buy organic or natural food usually have a cart full of food. Their purchases look like something our ancestors may have eaten, and what our bodies have evolved to metabolize and absorb most efficiently over tens of thousands of years.

Other folks, who buy a large amount of packaged products, generally have highly processed food-like materials in their cart. It may taste good with a perfectly formulated balance of salt-fat-sugar, designed for maximum consumption and therefore maximum sales, but is it really food, in the strictest definition of the word?

Even zoos post signs warning visitors not to toss Cheetos or similar food-like materials into cages:
