At 11:24 a.m., Sector Honolulu watchstanders heard a report of a capsized 14-foot pleasure craft with three boaters aboard about one mile off Ka‘a‘awa Beach. Coordinating with the Honolulu City and County emergency services the Dolphin aircrew diverted to assist and was on scene at 11:28 a.m.
The aircrew hoisted the three boaters, clinging to the hull of the capsized vessel and brought them to awaiting Honolulu City and County emergency services at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay where they received medical treatment for minor injuries.
A salvage plan for the capsized vessel is being formalized. The maximum pollution potential is low at three gallons of gasoline and marine battery.
Idiots putting coastguard at peril and costing us. Lucky the Coast guard, wasnt shut down eh?

The only people who are furloughed are those with administrative, bureaucratic jobs. "Operational" personnel are still on duty in most cases. For example, Customs continues to clear PAX on vessels and A/C, but those process after-the-fact paperwork are furloughed.

No info on type of boat. Assume something like a p 13. Rated for 2 persons or 500 lbs max weight includes persons, motor ,fuel, gear,fish ,ice, overloaded, thats why it capsized in 3 ft 20 kt wind. Might have not capsized in kona, i had friend in 17 whaler pos, 70 suzuki, 2 guys , 2 ft seas 15 kts wind. Backing down on a fish. Looked back and 1 ft water in boat. Turned arround to turn on pump. Turned back and boat flipped

HAHA Dan on the (unsinkable) Whaler. They love to flip. He coulda warned buddy, then applied a little forward throttle for water to slam out. Hopefully fuel tank(s) strapped down bawahahah. Ever see a Hobie Skiff ? 2x giant scuppers in transom right @ deck level ... Good times on the waves with these.

Hey rwr, u a boater? Sounds like. Ive seen a whole bunch of boats, huli,sink, run aground, crash,burn(one at a fuel dock,da guy stuck the gas hose down the rod holder,and keept drinking his beer,with engines running,flashover,boom) I salvaged a 32 trihull from the reef finger on the outer launch ramp kawaihae. Took 3 days, 2 k in crane fees. We billed only 12k,was fun and scarry ,when a swell came in.
The moring diver in charge of all moorings on bi was a ditz,znd never cked the shackles on the mooring bouys, next big swell,bye bye boat,helo rocks
