The Panchos Tacos food truck is at the Pahoa Propane / used car / food truck lot every Sunday. We've been wanting to try it for some time and finally did today.
We'll be back. Soon. It was really good. And the food came out surprisingly fast.
Most of the plate entrees (plates include rice and beans) are $10.00. Normally Mexican-style rice is just an afterthought, a starchy side dish with lots of color but little flavor other than salt to stand up on it's own. But this might have been the best Mexican rice I've ever eaten, other than my Mexican friend's grandmother's recipe.
The chile relleno was good. It wasn't AWESOME but I would get it again after trying other things first. I also tried the "3 tacos" plate. The tacos are served street style with two little tortillas per. I tried carnitas (pork), asada (beef), and chicken. My favorite of the 3 was chicken, which usually comes in 3rd but something about the seasoning spiked it up to #1. There is another pork option and also beef tongue which I haven't tried yet.
They have a clean and cozy covered eating area.
The Thai lady's truck and also a coffee/smoothie truck are also there on Sundays. I think the Thai lady is cash or EBT (for cold options) only. Panchos takes cash and plastic.
