this as an insult to those who genuinely have PTSD
The protestors seem to understand cultural appropriation.
Aren’t their claims a form of experiential appropriation?

That's one for a discussion at a bar. I'm not even sure what that means.

I'm not even sure what that means.
Recently it’s become popular to claim certain hair styles, items of clothing, jewelry or other decoration should only be worn or displayed by members of the culture who originated them.
I suggested that when the protestors compare their possible arrest (which hasn’t occurred) with the actual trauma of soldiers who faced the horrors of war, that the protestors have falsely appropriated their claim of shock and trauma, without the experience.

I guess that the protesters didn't have American History as a course when they attended school !
If we hadn't won the battle of Midway, the Hawaiians would all be dead and everyone still alive after the conquest of the Hawaiian Islands by the Japanese would still be speaking Japanese !

Yeah, that was a little disturbing. No where in the video he made and released to the media about his complaint did he mention the Hawaii supreme court ruling on TMT. As if it doesn't matter, as if the law doesn't matter. Only thing not disturbing is that he just retired.

The county-funded crossing guards are about to be removed from the TMT protest site on the Daniel K. Inouye highway and it seems the safety of protesters and drivers will be left in the hands of the protesters.
https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/11/27...test-site/
The MK observatories have been asking for the speed limit at the site to be reduced reduce the risk of an accident involving vehicles and pedestrians at the site but the state is not interested, so the speed limit through the site remains at 60 mph. Bear in mind the area is prone to thick for and heavy rain during the winter and the site is on both sides of the highway, so people are often walking across the road.
According to that article:
"
Those who consider themselves protectors of Mauna Kea say they can handle traffic control themselves. “I don’t think we are alarmed by it at all. I think we’ll go back to having our own kiai to make sure that people are crossing safely,” said Noe Noe Wong-Wilson, a leader at the encampment."
And:
"
Despite criticism, Kim says safety at the intersection is a priority regardless of political views.
“My exact words with Civil Defense yesterday is they are not protectors. Just pretend they are a bunch of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts camping up there," he said."
I'm not quite sure what to say about that last bit.
