Hmmm.... We were coming back from Hilo and saw a flashing ambulance heading toward Hilo on 130 (which wasn't that strange) but there was a police vehicle following it. Both at a high rate of speed. That was at 4:30 pm.

Another death from a traffic accident on Maku'u.

2 in 1st 15 days of the month !

Maybe time for some traffic patrols on private roads that are main highways.

Makuu is hardly a main highway. You'd have to work pretty hard to get into a fatal one vehicle accident. But where there's a will there's a way.
Certainty will be the death of us.

From the article:

Responding to a 3:59 p.m. traffic collision, police determined that a 2013 Honda motorcycle was traveling south on 24th Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign posted at the Maku‘u Drive intersection. The motorcyclist broadsided a 1999 Nissan Frontier truck that was traveling mauka on Maku‘u Drive, police said.

The motorcycle driver, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to Hilo Medical Center via ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 5:27 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

God rest his soul. May his family find peace. ER staff have long called helmetless riders organ donors. Please wear a helmet.
