Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here)
In Ohio here is who was ahead of the 65-75 group.

Healthcare workers and personnel who are routinely involved in the care of COVID-19 patients.
Residents and staff in nursing homes.
Residents and staff in assisted living facilities.
Patients and staff at state psychiatric hospitals.
People with developmental disabilities and those with mental health disorders, including substance use disorders, who live in group homes, residential facilities, or centers, and staff at those locations.

The teachers and government employees come after everyone over the age of 65 is vaccinated.
Residents and staff at our two state-run homes for Ohio veterans.
EMS responders.

"Teachers will still refuse to teach after they're vaccinated simply because most of the students are under-16 and therefore cannot be vaccinated."

Why would anyone get vaccinated if they aren't going to trust that it will work?

Anyone who wants to put their personal convictions ahead of public health can just stay home, thanks.

I totally agree. But my point is if they don't trust the vaccine, why don't they just give up their place in line to someone who does?

And stay home, of course.

Trust has nothing to do with it: the vaccine does not prevent infection, and teachers will be exposed to children who are by definition not vaccinated.

This way, they can get "vaccination priority" and then "refuse to work" while still "getting paid".

I don't believe that for a second.  Hopefully we will find out soon!

The teachers and their union lost a lot of faith from the citizens of Hawaii a few years ago when they agreed to drug testing as part of a contract that included a juicy pay increase.  After the contact went into effect, they refused to take the drug tests at the direction of their "leadership," which, by the way, negotiated the contract. They did, however, keep the pay raise, and they got away with it.  Between that and the abysmal results the Hawaii public schools produce, I can't summon up a lot of sympathy for them.  I can easily see them refusing to teach after they're vaccinated.

Edited to add:  What I wrote above is my assessment of Hawaii teachers as a unionized group.  Like many of you, I do know dedicated, hard working teachers who do the best they can in a broken system.

Thank you for the edit. I was thinking we were being a bit harsh on the group as a whole.

I believe that as a general rule teachers are teachers because they want to teach, not because they want to scam the system.

The union is something else.

If they really want to teach, why did they join the union?

Without the union there would be no education in Hawaii. The teacher's union is the only thing that keeps teachers from being treated like slaves.
