Best news for Hawaii Travelers
#11
Won't make any difference in my life. Seems like no news. I don't much care for seeing lawyers displacing public healthcare officials.

I'd imagine right now that those wanting to fly to or from Hawaii are more interested in the costs of flights coming down rather than whether or not they have to wear masks. And finding affordable hotels on the island is harder than ever.

PS. Just did a price check comparing the Naniloa to a similarly priced hotel in CA about 10 miles from Santa Barbara. Both hotels came in at about $700 for a 4-night stay starting 16th May. The Naniloa added $310 in taxes and fees, the CA hotel added $84.

To extend the mask mandate on airline flights was ridiculous !
Modern airplanes have the cleanest air you can breathe .

I will still wear a mask when I fly.

It’s news because clearly a majority of the country and a majority of people in Hawaii no longer wish to wear masks. You all and the Hawaiian politicians who represent you the fringe minority would mask us indefinitely if they could get away with it. It’s only because of the political winds that they are relenting at all, not because the “science has changed” or that they believe in an individuals freedom to choose. To some it matters that unelected organizations like the CDC could have such control over our lives, it’s clearly unconstitutional to anyone who bothers to read it.
I say again good riddance and I hope these fascists never have power again.

Actually I phrased that incorrectly, I prey these fascists never have power again because I know my rights are given by God, inalienable and protected by the bill of rights, not granted by the government, certainly not unelected bureaucrats.

Yes, because this country bases it's best health care decisions upon majority rule:

Cigarrettes - I remember when bars were so thick with smoke you could barely see the back of the room.  When you went home your clothes stunk to high heaven.  Yoiu breathed that bad air all night.  Finally restaurants provided smoking sections because a magic barrier was created with the signs that said SMOKING and NO SMOKING.  Then after much kicking and screaming and probably some actual science, government eventually banned smoking indoors entirely.  The smokers were never right, even when they were a majority.

Obesity - doctors try and get their overweight patients to lose weight because it's better for their health.  But the fatheads like to eat so eventually, what's the point?  Just let everyone else contribute higher insurance rates to pay for the diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure.  But hey, FREEDOM!

ADDED FOR SPECIFICALLY HAWAII RELATED COMMENT:
The Surgeon General announced smoking was bad for our health in 1964, a few years after Hawaii became a state.  Fast slow forward over 40 years later when Hawaii politicians, quick on the draw to restrict our freedoms banned smoking for indoor public spaces in 2006.  Hawaii County banned smoking in outdoor recreation areas, parks & beaches 2 years later.  Because people here always recognize the dangers right in front of them, all around them, or care if it adversely affects their friends, neighbors, co-workers, even their own keiki.

But hey, FREEDOM!

Wait. Are you suggesting that freedom isn't magically created by the selfish wishes of individuals?

It's almost like freedom isn't free, but more like a collective effort. Otherwise nobody can have nice things.

Not surprising. I think this was inevitable, and also a good idea. A favorable ruling could possibly be of consequence for the future but will not change anything in Hawaii or elsewhere in US over the next several months regarding masking on airplanes and in airports.  THAT is over for now.

"Or lose it", also known as 'Don't make me turn this car around'.
