If Penn gets more than 10% of the vote, I will spray coffee out of my nose when I read the morning news.

I hope you're talking about the general election and not the primary. I think he's running well ahead of 10% in the republican primary. You'd better get some paper towels ready.

Yes, he may be. But, still, what percent of the over all electorate is that? After all here, in Hawaii, where there really isn't a competitive two party system, our primaries settle most contests.

As to BJ's chances? You gotta recognize that he doesn't know much about how to do the job he's applying for. By his credentials he's not much more than muscle.. the bouncer at the door.. through whom his mother is vicariously continuing to pursue her failed dreams of being a politician. But BJ, himself? I think his chances are about as good as there are people who would vote for someone on popularity alone, and, who favor his kind of popularity. And, as much as I am sure there are a bunch of MAGA types hereabouts that are itching to support that kind of thing, I too doubt they add up to ten percent of the entire (all parties included) vote.

But hey, we'll know soon enough.

According to the New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022...awaii.html), Duke Aiona is in an unassailable lead for the Republican Party nomination for governor; 55.1% vs 21.9% for Penn. 88% of the votes have been counted at the time of posting.
